LIFE-Aquasef. Design of tanks for the cultivation of microalgae and diffusers
Project Detail
One of the main projects with public funding in which D&BTech has participated is the AQUASEF (www.aquasef.com) belonging to the LIFE + European Union call that focuses exclusively on the environment.

D&BTech participated in the consortium by designing an efficient tank for the cultivation of microalgae and diffusers for the transfer of oxygen to the fish breeding tanks in an aquaculture facility.
The open tanks for microalgae cultivation in the AQUASEF project were designed with the help of the CFD simulation so that the impulsion system had low energy consumption as well as an adequate geometry to reduce the head losses.
A new dissemination system (O2BTech) was developed in the project. Based on the patent of the University of Seville on the generation of microbubbles by cross flow, which is commercially exploited exclusively by the company D&BTech. The diffuser is easy to install and has low energy consumption.

The diffuser was adapted to the special conditions of the fattening tanks. The high O2 transfer rate reached by the O2BTech diffusers allows an important economic saving since the usual contribution of pure O2 is not necessary even in times of maximum demand from growing fish.
